Marie Patent is a 45 year accredited member of the Dance Teacher’s Club of Boston, Dance Masters of America and Dance Educators of America. She is also a member of the National Council of Dance Teachers with the American Society of Dance. In addition, she is a founding and active member of the Boston Ballet Society and the NH Dance Teacher’s Organization. A dance educator for over 50 years, Mrs. Patent has been described by many as the “first lady of dance” on the seacoast. She has received many awards for her choreography including DEA’s President’s Cup in 1997. She has volunteered her services for innumerable community and school programs for the arts including Winnacunnet Regional High School drama department, Hampton Academy Junior High, Newburyport Yankee Homecoming, Seabrook Old Home Days and the PTA Association. She established and implemented the dance program for the Hampton Recreation Department and has taught at dance conventions for teachers both locally and nationally. Founder of the Seacoast Civic Dance Company, she has provided NHAPA with performance groups which represents the school and allow dance students the opportunity to perform as part of their dance education.
